The Founder
Ciao!
I am Agnese, the founder of SABLE.
SABLE was born as a vehicle to expand my visual inspiration. From a “little something” a “bigger one” has come: a conceptual croco belts business.
As SABLE was growing, i immediately decided to bring it to the next level and to commit to a sustainable cause by using only repurposed pieces of leather in order to avoid waste and help our planet.
For over a couple of years now, it’s been my intention to continue taking materials which would have been otherwise wasted and make products from them.
Sable is a project that I started when I was living in Milan and continued when I then moved to Madrid and now I am running it from Florence.
My passion for fashion and sustainability led me to start my own business: Sable.
By the time I was living in Milan I was really fascinated by all the colors and sparkles that were surrounding me as well as the issue of waste was disappointing me a lot.
With the aim of avoiding waste and to offer something new to the market I have started thinking about creating my own business focusing on sustainability. Thanks to my mum that believed in me since day one, my artisans and my sister – who has recently joined the team- Sable is a growing reality that aims to bring craftsmanship and uniqueness around the world.
About Sable World
Sable is an ethical, up-cycled, sustainable exotic leather brand. High-quality leather scraps are rescued and transformed into a variety of functional accessories such as cardholders, napkin rings, pet collars, or wallets – allowing cut-off materials a chance to shine.
The brand actualizes Agnese’s vision and desire to showcase artisan traditions through her fresh, creative lens that breathes a second life and meaning into recycled materials.
The freedom to create, the constant quest for beautiful materials, and the transmission of exceptional know-how – which enable the creation of useful, and elegant objects which stand the test of time – forge the uniqueness of sable.
The Leather
Every product is unique as it is created from limited off-cuts resources. SABLE World is about creativity, uniqueness and craftsmanship.
SABLE believes in second chances: in fact, by using leather off-cuts, it gives life to those materials that otherwise would remain unused.
The Factory
Sable’s factory is in santa croce sull’ arno,a small town near Florence famous for its leather tanneries. High quality leather leftovers are rescued and transformed by SABLE’s artisans into different accessories, such as belts, keychains and cardholders. Every piece is locally handmade from our artisans who work with leather in a way that goes beyond just a job: its a passion that has been passed down through generations and they take pride in their craft and the products they create.
As you walk through the tiny factory, you will see Stefano and he’s father working with precision and care, cutting and stitching each piece of leather together to create a finished product that is both beautiful and durable. It’s a process that requires skill, patience, and a deep understanding of the material they are working with.
